MILITARY CHRISTMAS EVE

For anyone who has ever served in our country's military know this is the hardest time of the year to be stationed away from family and friends. It tugs at the pure soul of a man or woman serving.... tugging hard to get back with their loved ones... but knowing they can't. It is NOT asking to much of every American of this great nation to hold these brave men and women in their hearts and minds during this amazing time of the miracle birth of Christ. A wonderful friend sent this to me and I am asking that you take a moment, even if you are not a big supporter of our military, to read..... and remember those who have sacrificed so that we may live in peace and free.

Ash Wednesday marks the onset of the Lent, the 40-day period of fasting and abstinence. It is also known as the 'Day of Ashes'. So called because on that day at church the faithful have their foreheads marked with ashes in the shape of a cross.
Putting a 'cross' mark on the forehead was in imitation of the spiritual mark or seal that is put on a Christian in baptism. This is when the newly born Christian is delivered from slavery to sin and the devil, and made a slave of righteousness and Christ (Rom. 6:3-18).
